To increase the connections and presence in Silicon Valley of entrepreneurs and investors from Latin America and other emerging economies underrepresented in Silicon Valley.
About This Cause
Silicon Valley Links (SV Links) is a non-profit organization that seeks to educate, connect, and inspire business persons from emerging countries by connecting them with professional networks and communities in Silicon Valley. To achieve our goal, we organize monthly, week-long Immersion Programs in Silicon Valley where participants meet investors, entrepreneurs, academics, and professionals in the high-tech industries to learn the unique way Silicon Valley does innovation. It is a known fact that 1 out 4 people living in Silicon Valley are either from Mexico or Central America. Waves of migration have led them here in search of better opportunities. They are from the lowest economic backgrounds in their home countries and are likely illiterate and can only show an elementary school certificate at most. On the other hand, the elite from these countries are very local thinkers, risk-averse, and living in their comfort zones. When we expose the latter to the ambitious thinking of Silicon Valley leaders, our participants change their mindset, reignite their entrepreneurial spirit, and return re-energized to their home countries to invest, innovate or resume their entrepreneurial spirit with broader thinking. We have introduced around 3,000 participants to Silicon Valley through our Immersion Programs and the results thus far speak volumes: + 2,500 new employments in Latin America + 100 new employments in the USA + 30 millions of USD invested by our visitors in Silicon Valley + Around 30 families from the elite in Latin America move to the US to do and create formal businesses.
