Mission Statement
Founded in 2012 as a grassroots movement and 501(c)3, VME is a professional association of U.S. military veterans working in, or aspiring to work in, media and entertainment with over 6,000 members. VME's mission is to connect veterans to industry jobs, internships, education, fellowship opportunities and to each other. We serve as an aggregator of veterans working in the industry or aspiring to work in it. Our members come from all branches and all ranks and are at all career levels from corporate (development, legal, marketing, cyber/IT) to independent (writers, producers, directors, editors, DP's). With over 6,000 members across the nation, our footprint is currently concentrated in film, television, digital media, theater, music, and gaming. VME is headquartered in Los Angeles with chapters in NYC and Washington, DC.
About This Cause
ABOUT VME For members new to the industry, we accelerate transition from military service to civilian jobs through our on-going educational and professional development programs. For members (and civilians) established in their careers, we provide a platform to lead classes, provide mentorship, and inspire our veterans and military members. For the industry, we serve as a talent incubator and pipeline to the veteran community for jobs and internships. Our core mission programs: • Jobs, Internships -- VME has 30+ entertainment hiring partners including studios, networks, agencies, and production companies. • Education & Professional Development – Each year, we host 50+ online and in-person roundtables, classes, and workshops led by top talent. • Diversity – 42% of our members are from underrepresented groups and VME connects them to existing industry programs. • Fellowship – we provide a community for veterans to find creative collaborators and to share resources. • Branded Programs - we hold "VME Career Days" at studios and networks, Starz Creative Career Program for Veteran Women, Lionsgate/Grindstone Pitchfest, an Allied Marketing Screening Series, Insider Series with Companies like UTA, etc.
