Mission Statement
Greater Gallatin United Way is the community leader in collective impact-driven work. Our mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities. We believe that real long-term change is best generated by working collectively through a common agenda. As a centralized philanthropic organization focusing on human services in Gallatin, Madison, Meagher, and Park Counties, we convene individuals and organizations to deliver effective and efficient solutions to address local community issues around health, education, and income. Through this UNITED effort, redundancy is reduced, and each partner's contribution multiplies to deliver greater results for the community.
About This Cause
Donations can be made to the following initiatives that address the quality of life for the whole community, from babies to seniors. 1. Community Investment/Impact - Funds raised in GGUW's annual fundraising campaign are invested in local nonprofit organizations and programs to combat poverty and support education and health initiatives. Centralized fundraising benefits our community by allowing donors to easily support multiple well-vetted organizations with one donation, providing local organizations with an efficient method to access community dollars through an open and thoughtful grant process, and mobilizing businesses, their workforce, and community members to get involved. Grants are awarded to fund programs in four impact areas: Basic Needs (food, shelter, transportation, and childcare), Early Learning, Youth Success, and Behavioral Health and Mental Well-being. In 2024, we distributed $225,000 to 26 local nonprofits, including Bridgercare, Community Health Partners, The Help Center, Befrienders, Wellness in Action, Gallatin County CASA/GAL, and more. 2. GGUW kidsLINK Out-of-School-Time Initiative – A GGUW initiative that was established in 1997 in response to an identified need in our rural communities to keep children safe while their parents finished their workday. Today, this school-based/linked program operates in 29 locations across 4 counties and serves over 1,611 children every day. The program is a fun, safe environment that provides rich opportunities for learning, personal growth, and relationship building. Donations help cover program costs and provide scholarships for working families who need extra support, ensuring that no child has to stay home alone. 3. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - GGUW is an affiliate of this international book-gifting program. The Imagination Library sends a FREE age-appropriate book each month to children ages 0-5. The program goals are to spark a love of reading and increase kindergarten readiness by developing early literacy skills. GGUW is the affiliate for Gallatin and Park Counties. 4. Disaster Response - We have raised funds to assist those affected by the Yellowstone River Flooding in Park County, MT, in partnership with the Park County Community Foundation in the SW MT Flood Relief Fund. We supported our community through the SW MT COVID-19 Response Fund and the Bridger Foothills Fire Relief Fund, both of which were established in partnership with the One Valley Community Foundation. Through this experience, we identified the need for a standing Disaster Response Fund. We will use this Fund to provide immediate assistance, such as purchasing hotel rooms to shelter victims, acquiring necessary supplies, or addressing other urgent needs.
