Mission Statement
The mission of Eat Better Live Better is to help prevent, reduce and reverse childhood obesity and other dietary related illnesses by providing communities and families with nutrition education and healthy foods to families and communities.
About This Cause
Grocery Assistance Program (GAP Program). We are providing healthy groceries to families in need. So many families have endured hardships due to COVID-19 and other life battles, the stories we hear are heartbreaking. “Mommy I am hungry,” is the last thing a single mother with two children wants to hear after she was let go from her job due to COVID-19. We believe that families should not have to cut corners on nutrition and calories. Therefore, we are provide (2) weeks of healthy groceries to families with children the elderly and those with disabilities. Many of our families have no transportation or cannot afford to put gas in their cars to drive to food banks/drives. We also have many families that have never needed help before. That is why we deliver healthy groceries right to the doorsteps of the families in need. Additionally, we are provide nutrition guides, a family activity calendar and healthy recipes with each delivery to help the families lead a healthier lifestyle. In addition to the 2 weeks of groceries, we also provide assistance in filling out online forms for SNAP benefits and/or other applications if needed. Project Smile. What is one thing that everyone has access to right now? A smile! The only problem is, that it can be hard to make a smile when you do not know where your next meal will come from. That is why Eat Better Live Better and Digital Vibez partnered to help feed families throughout Palm Beach County. There is a catch because the food is not free…it costs a smile. Project Smile is a pop-up program where the families smile will be the payment for the groceries to feed their family. We focus on communities that are located in food deserts. Every week we will visit a different city and provide families with groceries and fresh produce. Eat Better Live Better will provide the food, a nutrition guide and of course a smile. Digital Vibez will bring their infamous bus with music and excitement. Together, we want to bring nutrition and a smile to the faces of as many families as possible. Youth Nutrition Programs. Eat Better Live Better also teaches youth in community centers, aftercare programs, schools and day cares about nutrition. Within our 8-week program, the youth will learn to read nutrition labels, identify healthy and unhealthy foods, and create good associations with healthy foods. Additionally, many children have never tried real produce, so we also bring healthy food experiences to the youth. Here is a snapshot about our programs. Pre-k through 5th grade has a special curriculum that teaches nutrition with art, games and constant interaction and discussion. 6th through 12th grade also has it's very own curriculum that teaches these students how to become nutritionally self-sufficient, understand nutrition, become more socially responsible and get familiar with healthy foods. We also have a dining etiquette course that can be added to any class. Our Healthy Advocacy Workshop is designed to teach the faculty of community centers, schools, cities, non-profit organizations and any other businesses that deal with the community and children on a day-to-day basis and become nutritional role models. Our community leaders need to know how to be healthy and why they should care. We also have workshops for parents including "How To Eat Healthy On A Budget" along with grocery store and farmers market tours. The Eat Better Live Better team is dedicated to creating healthy permanent changes in the communities we serve. We aim to make a significant improvement in the health of the community. Childhood obesity and dietary related illnesses are directly related to bullying, anxiety, depression, teen suicide, early onset puberty, student drop-out rates, crime and more.
