WELCOME TO THE TORAT AARON SCHOOL
About This Cause
INTRODUCTION: The Torat Aaron school is the flagship institution of American Friends of Torah and Tefilah. While we have other programs which we develop and run, Torat Aaron pesonifies all that our organization stands for. From its inception, Torat Aaron was established with clearly defined educational goals and standards. Some of the prominent highlights of the school include: FOCUSING ON THE INDIVIDUAL CHILD: The school is committed to addressing each child’s needs and providing the resources and support needed to help him achieve his own unique potential. This includes tutoring, extracurricular enrichment, and counseling, regardless of financial ability. GOING BEYOND TEXT-BASED STUDY: Torat Aaron strives to cultivate core values of Judaism and life skills. These include: a love of humanity and Jewish people; sensitivity and respect to others; embracing the world around us; a love of the holy land; communal responsibility and stewardship; a lifelong love of learning and Judaism. HOLISTIC APPROACH: Torat Aaron’s programming supports and nurtures social intelligence, cognitive health, and emotional wellbeing. Y A D Y O S E F C H E S E D PROJECT: The acclaimed Yad Yosef project assists families in challenging situations by providing fresh hot meals and other material assistance. Students and parents alike are involved hands-on in this very active undertaking, which promotes a sense of compassion and a sensitivity to the needs of others. CUTTING EDGE: The most current methodologies, equipment, and systems are employed. A prime example is the implementation of STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), including Computer Science. E D U C A T I O N A L EXCELLENCE: Torat Aaron provides both Torah and secular education of the highest academic standards in a stimulating environment that encourages inquisitiveness and independent thinking. B R O A D C O L O R F U L CURRICULUM: The school provides a wide spectrum of programs to broaden students’ horizons and satisfy different interests. These include music, art, computers, a love of the holy land, a variety of original and engaging trips throughout the country, sciences, and physical education among others. SUCCESS BREADS SUCCESS: From its humble beginnings in 2014 with a mere three classes and a student body of 60, Torat Aaron has experienced astonishing growth, with 10 classes and an enrolment of 300. There is not enough space to accommodate the constantly increasing number of applicants. Evidently, the Torat Aaron educational mission has resonated deeply with the community. Success is not gauged by numbers alone. Perhaps the greatest yardstick of achievement is the students themselves. The eager smiles on these precious children’s faces as they arrive at school each day; their unbridled enthusiasm for Torah study; their blossoming as sensitive and caring individuals; their passion for knowledge and growth. These are sure indicators that Torat Aaron is indeed fulfilling its mission. PRINCIPAL RABBI DOVID BRAFMAN As the founder of Torat Aaron, Rabbi Brafman is the school’s very heart and soul. A master educator with years of experience, Rabbi Brafman has perfected the balanced synthesis of warm and caring with structure and demanding accountability. His trademark love for each student and firm belief in their ability to succeed has endeared Rabbi Brafman to students and parents alike, who have come to rely on his listening ear and sound advice. Rabbi Brafman holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yeshiva University; he studied for his Masters at Azrielli Graduate School of Jewish Education. An alumnus of Mir Yeshiva and a former lecturer at Ohr Somayach, Rabbi Brafman devotes his formidable talents and heart to Torat Aaron’s success. A MESSAGE FROM MR. BENJAMIN BRAFMAN, FOUNDER I would like to share with you my passion for Talmud Torah Torat Aaron, a school situated in the Ramat Eshkol neighborhood of Jerusalem. Dedicated in memory of my late brother, Rabbi Aaron Brafman zt”l, this wonderful yeshiva embodies the educational ideals that he lived and taught. There is a strong emphasis on ethics, character development, mature and respectful conduct, as well as individual growth. Even among young students, there is a tangible and vibrant sense of enthusiasm. It is quite apparent that they really enjoy school, and the positive implications of this on their lifelong career as loyal Jews is enormous. I see it first hand and I often receive correspondence from grateful parents. Torat Aaron is a place where children are genuinely happy, no small feat in this generation. As the proud father of the yeshiva’s gifted and dedicated founder and Principal, I am admittedly biased. However, I invite you to visit Torat Aaron and see for yourself. It’s not just another school: your heart will be touched by the radiant smiles, by children learning Torah with pride and genuine enthusiasm. They herald a great future for their community and for the Jewish people. Come and share the joy!
