Mission Statement
Julian Pathways is the student and family support center for the rurally isolated Julian Union School District located in the mountains east of San Diego. Pathways’ goal is to ensure that each child receives the physical, emotional, and intellectual support he or she needs- in school, at home, and in the community- to learn well. To this end, Pathways offers a myriad of resources and programs including: garden/nutrition education; mental health counseling, social services, before/after school program; theater arts; academic supports, wellness activities and education; dental service; parenting classes; bilingual services; and drug prevention activities. Services are offered on campus so that families and students may take advantage of them. If Pathways does not provide these services most families and children, due to isolation and poverty, would be unable to access them.
About This Cause
Julian Pathways opened its doors in September 2000. Originally funded though a grant from the state of California, funding from private donations, foundations, and state and federal grants keeps Pathways operational and even allows for thoughtful program expansion. Although still closely associated with the District, Pathways became its own non-profit in 2016. The Pathways Executive Director, in place since 2000, multiple staff members, and dedicated board members take great pride in the many positive outcomes Pathways programs provide our students and families.
