MINNESOTA COLORECTAL CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATION

Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55417 United States

Mission Statement

Our mission is to build a community of colorectal cancer survivors, and their family and friends, who will work passionately to raise money to fund research to improve survival and the quality of life of people with colon and rectal cancer.

About This Cause

Minnesota Colorectal Cancer Foundation was founded by colon cancer survivor Dr. Sandy Muschenheim and incorporated as a 501(C)(3) in 2017. MCCRF’s purpose is twofold. Primarily MCCRF raises funds through an annual gala event in February (the Blue Moon Gala) and an annual golf event. Grant proposals are solicited by MCCRF from doctorate and post doctorate labs specializing in colorectal research. These labs are affiliated with the University of Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic. The lab proposals are vetted by the MCCRF board (made up of a number of U Of M physicians) and an independent team of researchers. Donations from the gala and golf event are then packaged into grants that are awarded by the MCCRF board to approved research projects. From C-Corp inception to end of this year MCCRF will have raised over a million dollars and awarded over a million dollars in research grants. The second objective of MCCRF is to create a community for people challenged with the diagnosis of colorectal cancer. This community gives support, education, and counsel to patients and their families, friends, and treatment partners dealing with colorectal cancer.
