Mission Statement
SHRI fights alongside rural Indian communities to end open defecation as a key step in the struggle for health equity, and social and economic justice.
About This Cause
SHRI works to end open defecation (OD) in rural India. OD causes deleterious health, social, and economic outcomes. SHRI improves access to toilets, while making sure that infrastructure remains well-maintained. SHRI helps ensure this sustainability by selling safe-drinking water to communities. This improves access to another vital service while helping SHRI generate revenue to pay for maintenance.
