About This Cause

The West Falls Center for the Arts, founded as a nonprofit in 2016, brings a diverse set of performing, visual, culinary and healing arts to a rural community and a population with limited access to quality arts and cultural opportunities. Since 2016, the “Bakery” as it is affectionately called because of the repurposing of a building that housed Butterwood Desserts for many years, has increased attendance for events from 450 to 7,000. Ongoing programs include musical performances with local youth performers opening for national talent at every concert, a free Blues Mentoring series for young musicians, Community Jam sessions, Southtowns Youth Jazz Orchestra and the prestigious Buffalo Jazz Collective. Music genres include Classical, Alternative, Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Rock and African drumming. The WFCA also provides holiday meals, music clinics and master classes by national artists. In addition, we offer music programming to benefit Veterans and their families. We have received two DEC Grants for our Veterans programs. Through a grant from the Wilson Foundation, Garman and Health Foundations, we started a Memory Cafe, using music to provide socialization opportunities for caregivers and their loved ones. The WFCA offers yoga every week and a Music Exploration Camp in the summer for children. The organization was recognized with the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce Civic Award, and the Arts Services Initiative Give for Greatness award as well as the Rising Star award. The organization has received two Oishei Foundation grants to build the infrastructure and grow programming. Organization partners include BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, Buffalo Blues for Vets, Alzheimer’s Association of WNY, East Aurora Music Fest, Borderland Festival and Music is Art.
