Mission Statement
The Chitresh Das Institute seeks to ignite the world’s passion for kathak dance and Indian classical arts, with art rooted in tradition, responding to the now, and guided by community, legacy, and seva (service).
About This Cause
The Chitresh Das Institute (CDI) produces world-class performances in North India's kathak dance and music, led by Charlotte Moraga, celebrated disciple of the great kathak master artist and guru, Pandit Chitresh Das. CDI also has a two track educational institute that offers access to the community to learning the North Indian classical dance and music traditions at the highest level, as well as a track that trains professional dancers through its Chitresh Das Youth Company and Kathak Fellowship and nationally and internationally touring professional dance company, Chitresh Das Dance. CDI serves community by empowering young girls to find their voice through the arts, tackling social justice issues and advocating for the greater recognition and appreciation of and support for diverse art forms.
