Mission Statement
Our mission is to connect people with live classical music in a way that strengthens community, celebrates listener agency, and amplifies local arts resources.
About This Cause
The Live Music Project is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing arts access and arts community across the US and around the world. Our mission is to connect people with live classical music experiences in a way that strengthens community, celebrates listener agency, and amplifies local arts resources. We believe that access to the arts begins with access to information about the arts. There are thousands of organizations performing in this area, many of which are all-volunteer ensembles. Most of these groups don’t have a lot of resources, and yet many of them perform for free for the community. When we talk about the arts, and barriers to entry, we often talk about cost – but one of the biggest barriers is access to information. The information is out there – it’s available – but it’s not always easy to find. The Live Music Project takes all this concert information – information about free concerts, family-friendly shows, open rehearsals, opera, orchestra, chamber music – and we make it discoverable. We pull it all into one place and then distribute it back out: we make it SEO-friendly, print flyers, translate it into other languages, break it down by categories so that you can (for example) find all the tuba concerts that are out there. This amplifies the resources our community does have, and makes them go a lot farther. Our board, staff, and volunteers bring years of professional experience to the table, and the mission-driven approach brings a sense of purpose – and focus – to our work that informs the product from strategic decisions all the way to the tiniest design details. The Live Music Project is a trailhead for the music adventure. It provides composers, performers, and performing arts organizations with a proven way to promote and sustain their work, increase their visibility in the community, and tell the story of their craft. And it helps concert-goers discover a wide variety of new or familiar performances. We invite you to be a part of this vibrant experience!
