To feed, serve, and empower people experiencing homelessness in Detroit.
About This Cause
The Pope Francis Center started in 1990, when the pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul Church opened the doors and invited those staying on the steps of the church a moment of reprieve from a particularly brutal winter storm. This single act of kindness inspired the parish’s longstanding commitment to serving its neighbors, launching a ministry that has lasted three decades. Today we welcome between 170 and 200 people every day and serves as many nutritious meals. We offer laundry and shower facilities and offer access to professionals through our rotating medical, dental, legal, and housing clinics.
