About This Cause
R.I.S.E. (Resilient Individuals Striving for Excellence) Shreveport, established in May 2016, is a nonprofit corporation organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Centered on identifying individuals with the tools needed to be successful, we are committed to residents living healthier lives. Our mission is “Building healthy communities by helping individuals tap into their own resiliency.” Simply put, we hold one’s own resiliency as the core of a successful program. Our flagship program is entitled Project Get Healthy (PGH). PGH focuses on building, improving, and maintaining a healthier lifestyle for our participants spiritual, emotional, physical, financial, and mental wellbeing. In this program, we educate each participant on the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle by implementing exercise plans, suggesting supplements, and providing nutritional facts. This program is paramount in alleviating obesity and many of the chronic diseases that plague our community. In addition to the physical component, we also work with individuals to help strengthen their emotional, spiritual, and mental health. By doing so, we can change the narrative and help others lead a healthier and more balanced life. In 2022 we started a new initiative under our Flagship Program, PGH. Our new initiative is entitled the #Fightforyou challenge. This challenge encourages our participants to set, work toward, and achieve weekly goals. Sample goals can be to work out four times in one week, to save $20 dollars or to pray give times this week. The purpose of this challenge is to show each participant that they are resilient and to help build confidence and strength to continue achieving goals in becoming holistically healthy.
