About This Cause
Motivated by an increasing number of sexual and gender minority youth experiencing alienation from their families and communities, including high rates of suicide, Encircle began building homes in conservative communities across Utah in 2017 to provide life-saving and socially inclusive services to LGBTQ+ youth and their families. Encircle utilizes a neutral approach: No Side, Only Love. This focus is emblematic of Encircle’s mission—bringing families and communities together to enable LGBTQ+ youth to thrive. Encircle deploys two key initiatives to provide ongoing support to LGBTQ+ youth and their families: (1) Evidence-based and data driven educational programming designed to offer constructive and relevant information and resources to LGBTQ+ youth, young adults, adults, and their families; and (2) Affirming therapeutic services, which include low to no-cost mental health counseling services as well as daily friendship circles.
