Mission Statement
Reduced to a slogan, our target is simple... ”Care. Share. Strengthen. Committed to our neighbors in need”. At a deeper level, the KCC Food Pantry is a group of people fully committed to the ideals that (1) we must care for each other, and (2) volunteerism is alive and well -- both of which, humanity craves. In fact, unconditional care for those in need by others without expectation or reward is a critical pillar for our society.
About This Cause
Under our Supplemental Food Distribution Program, we acquire nutritious and diet-balancing foods (meat, dairy, fruits, vegetables, grains, cereals), basic toiletries, soap, disinfectants, clothing, and other basics human needs. These items are distributed to the surrounding residents of the highest health risk and greatest financial need (homeless, near and below the Federal Poverty Level, and emergency situations). In addition to utilizing the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) to purchase significantly lower-cost foods, we run our own 6-day-per-week Food Recovery Program in cooperation with several local grocery stores and restaurants.
