Mission Statement
The goal of Orphan Care International is to provide support to international orphans to see them provided for physically, educationally, and spiritually. This will be done by partnering with established in-country orphanages and organizations who care for children who have lost one or both parents. Orphan Care International seeks to provide resources, materials, and training to the staff and children of the orphanages to foster a home environment where each child can not only have their needs met, but can have resources and opportunity to grow spiritually and educationally and be prepared for the transition to adulthood.
About This Cause
The goal of Orphan Care International is to provide support to international orphans to see them provided for physically, educationally, and spiritually. This will be done by partnering with established in-country orphanages and organizations who care for children who have lost one or both parents. Orphan Care International seeks to provide resources, materials, and training to the staff and children of the orphanages to foster a home environment where each child can not only have their needs met, but can have resources and opportunity to grow spiritually and educationally and be prepared for the transition to adulthood. One example of an organization that Orphan Care International would seek to partner with is the St. Matthews Orphanage Center (SMOC) in Myanmar. SMOC is an orphanage that has been operating on the grounds of the St. Matthews church for 13 years and has been providing a nurturing home environment for orphan children of Myanmar. They currently have 64 children and 12 staff. The staff of SMOC provides a safe home environment to house and feed the children as well as home schooling the children from the ages of 5-10 before they enroll them in the local school for the remainder of their elementary education. They also provide assistance and support for the children to pursue further trade or university education once they complete their elementary schooling. The partnership that Orphan Care International seeks to set up with SMOC (and other like organizations), would help provide the basics of food and clothing for the children, as well as providing educational materials and teacher training to assist the staff in their teaching and parenting of the children. In addition, Orphan Care International would seek to provide sponsorship and scholarship opportunities to help provide for the further university or trade schooling that children would pursue after they complete their elementary education. Orphan Care International will accomplish its goals primarily through donations from individuals and organizations. These donations will be used to provide or purchase the basics of food and clothing, and will also be used for staff training, tuition fees, and general operating costs. 100% of funds donated through Benevity go directly to the orphanage and local staff for the projects specified.
