Mission Statement
The Institute for Families and Nannies mission is to establish a recognized standard of care for the nanny industry and best practices supporting parents and nannies to provide quality care for children.
About This Cause
The Institute for Families and Nannies achieves its mission through education, job training and mentorship for nannies in partnership with parents to ensure children get the best care possible. We are a 501c.3 grassroots organization supporting nannies to design, develop and implement programs for their industry. In 2021 we have 3 programs running; 1. The Nanny and Family Studies Program at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, CA launched in September 2021. This is the first Nanny Early Childhood Education Program certified by a higher education institution in the U.S. Nannies earn college credit for courses unique to their work as nannies that count toward an Associate Degree in Child Development. The Nanny and Family Studies Program is a landmark event for the nanny industry. 2. Nanny-Pro Certification to Employment Program. This workforce development program supports nannies to write resumes, obtain references and the health/safety and background checks required for anyone working in licensed care. Once certified, nannies onboard with our partner, Wonderschool to create resumes and get marketing support to find jobs with quality families. 3. Parent-Pro a Roadmap to Hire the Best Nanny for Your Child, an online workshop for parents to learn how to successfully hire a nanny or create a share care arrangement to ensure their child receives the best care possible. This education and workforce development model will establish best practices and research outcomes that support quality care by nanny. Outcomes will be used to develop additional coursework, practical and accessible education, job training and family engagement programs to scale throughout the State of California by 2023.
