About This Cause

The International Autoimmune Encephalitis Society, (IAES), assists patients, family members, and caregivers in all areas of their journey. Our Motto is: "Empowering victims of Autoimmune Encephalitis and their caregivers through Support and Education". IAES has created Autoimmune Encephalitis Trivia Cards, an educational and rehabilitation game for patients, medical professionals, and friends to aid in understanding the disease and doubles as a rehabilitation tool. We provide a referral list of expert physicians for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Conduct an online educational support group, direct families on accessing discounted ground and air travel to a Physician for diagnosis, care, or treatment. Provide discounted accommodation information to make out-of-state travel as affordable as possible. Assist and educate in the appeals process to overturn treatment denials from insurance companies. Other services offered are: Financial assistance advice that prevents a family’s bankruptcy or becoming financially destitute from out of pocket expenses due to a medical crisis. Education about medical insurance options that lead to the highest benefits including charity care, guidance on how to keep medical records, and ensure best outcomes when faced with emergency health crises including being placed on Psychiatric holds or commitment. Funds research. Volunteers experienced in the understanding of autoimmune encephalitis assist in crisis management as patient advocates when their help is called upon and is appropriate.
