Mission Statement
Hālau Makana Polynesian Cultural Arts Center, Inc. is dedicated to preserving and perpetuating the traditional cultural arts of Hawai'i, Tahiti & New Zealand. This includes visual and performing arts, historical and contemporary regalia, lifeways and spirituality. Our studio & dance company strives to share these Polynesian Cultural Arts with anyone who has a sincere desire to learn. We encourage all members to embrace not just the cultural arts, but also each other with inclusivity in a safe environment to learn and express creativity. Our public and private performances and presentations are created in a way that both entertains and informs the audiences about our work and the passion that we have for our cultural history. Our members are a combination of multiple ethnicities and nationalities who share the common goal of keeping traditional cultural arts alive for generations to come.
About This Cause
Our curriculum goes beyond just dance, drumming and music. We nurture and instill positivity, team work, physical fitness, goal setting, problem solving and pride in accomplishments. Financial support would help us to: - bring cultural practitioners from Hawai’i, Tahiti and New Zealand to further our education about their true traditional cultural arts, - purchase regalia supplies, - replace outdated technical equipment that are starting to malfunction, - offer scholarships to those who need them - cover our expenses so that we can present our programs at festivals and other free events, - maintain our business vehicle.
