Mission Statement
High Country Veterans Adventures (HCVA) is a Colorado based 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. Our mission is to improve the overall quality of life of the U.S. Veteran by connecting them with the outdoors through physical and social adventures. We are driven and committed to serving the U.S. Veteran. This small slice of the population has selflessly sacrificed in service to our great nation. Their commitment comes at a great cost to the Veteran, who must endure sacrifices and hardships along the way. We recognize that not all wounds are visible and we have found a great way for Veterans to enjoy some time off, reconnect with nature, and socialize with fellow Veterans. Our goal is to provide the Veteran a tailored outdoor adventure at no cost.
About This Cause
HCVA is a veteran owned wilderness therapy charitable organization. We provide veterans with everything they need to get out of their heads and get outdoors. Veteran mental health problems are on the rise, veteran suicide is on the rise, new veterans loose their support structure upon separation from service. HCVA is here for them. The first step in wilderness therapy is to remove all excuses and barriers by providing programs and all equipment needed to progressively introduce veterans to outdoor activities; then the bonds made increase resilience and overall increased quality of live. Outward Bound Veterans and The University of Texas has provided scientific qualitative studies measuring the impact of nature therapy programs on US Veterans, highlighting the success of this strategy. HCVA welcomes this research and utilizes its findings in our approach to increase the overall quality of life of the US Veteran. Funds donated go toward: Guides certified in mental health first aid, wilderness first responder, avalanche safety, swift-water rescue, etc. Providing basic level instruction that would logically lead toward certifications and further enjoyment of wilderness activities. Providing all equipment needed for success. Assisting in transition from active duty to civilian life with peer support groups and resource management. Logistical support for the adventures.
