Mission Statement
SEE Turtles protects endangered sea turtles around the world by supporting community-based conservation efforts through conservation travel, protecting important nesting beaches, working to end the illegal tortoiseshell trade, cleaning plastic waste from turtle habitats, and educating the travel industry and general public.
About This Cause
SEE Turtles launched in 2008 to support sea turtle conservation through ecotourism and volunteer trips. Since then, we have generated more than $1 million for conservation efforts and local communities and connected more than 1,500 travelers with local conservation organizations. Our Billion Baby Turtles program provides support for important turtle nesting beaches and has helped save more than 10 million hatchlings. Too Rare To Wear is a campaign working to end the demand for turtleshell products. Our conservation trips provide volunteer and financial support for conservation efforts and our school programs help teachers and students learn about these incredible animals and how to protect them. Our Sea Turtles & Plastic program is helping to clean up tons of plastic waste from nesting beaches and ocean habitats and providing income to coastal communities. Our Sea Turtle Week campaign each June includes more than 250 partner organizations and reaches more than 8 million people a year. Finally, we support community members to advance their careers through our Sea Turtle Inclusivity Fund.
