Mission Statement
The UnLIMBited Foundation seeks to ensure that no child has to lose a limb to amputation as a result of a lack of awareness of limb correction surgical treatments, financial resources or medical expertise.
About This Cause
Inspired by one arm golf prodigy, Tommy Morrissey, aka "One Arm Golfer", The Foundation's mission is to make sure all families have the resources they need to be able to choose limb saving and corrective surgery over amputation for their children born with complex limb anomalies. Tommy's parent's were not given the choice because he was born as an amputee. They see clearly how difficult navigating life can be for amputees and they are doing all they can to make sure other families can make the choice to save their children's limbs from amputation when it's NOT medically necessary to amputate. Because the majority of the complex limb anomalies are so rare and misunderstood globally, the sad truth is that the majority of parents are told to consider terminating the pregnancy when these conditions are discovered in utero and within the lawful abortion period. When these children are carried to term and are born, the medical teams recommend amputation of the effected limbs simply because there are not enough trained surgeons to effectively treat these children with limb saving and correction surgeries.
