Mission Statement
To increase mental health accessibility and inclusivity for health justice through demonetizing the relationships between the mental health systems, and those seeking mental health services within Indigenous and historically under-invested and therefore chronically underserved communities.
About This Cause
We are a survivor and women led matriarchal organization providing the next generation of care to victims of crime and violence. We seek to learn from our ancestors’ teachings and the ways of governance that worked for the global majority centuries prior to colonization, we invite our Indigenous roles into colonial spaces. Our ways are from many differing nations and our resilience has always rooted in the health and wellbeing of our communities while we thrive through social & value-based economies. We liberate the practice, pedagogy, service delivery, and training of mental health by stewarding matriarchal shared-leadership of the Community Activated Medicine (CAM™) Framework™ and Intergenerational Healing Approach™. Our vision is to create the future leaders and healers for the next generation, with respect to our relationship with one another and our ancestors. Embodying organizational resiliency requires a new paradigm shift that looks to our past, recognizes the present, and considers all things for future generations. Decolonizing Mental Health is Social Justice in Mental Health. It means to deconstruct and dismantle power structures, racism, and the behaviorally-focused interventions used as part of the healing "treatment" process. It is the understanding that historical trauma healing goes beyond Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) and demands Healing Informed Practices (HIP). Our communities of generational wounding need long-term healing, and part of this is JUSTICE-focused work that goes beyond reflective practice and calls upon the Children's Fire to bring all voices together. Healing Intergenerational Roots (HIR) Wellness Institute inspired by the ancestral teachings and Indigenous knowledge of The Children’s Fire. This is reflected in our omni-dimensional organizational network and system that embodies a decentralized heterarchical and shared governance model, rooted in Indigenous practices. The two laws of the Children’s Fire: The Children’s Fire must forever keep going The feminine must be protected We will always seek to protect our future by pledging that no harm will come to our children by doing what is in their best interest and nurture the continuation of our ways. Our programming fosters a community-informed practice that addresses the complex impact of historical and intergenerational trauma through applying an Intergenerational Healing Informed Approach™.
