About This Cause
The Amitofo Care Center International ecosystem is built around the United Nations 17 SDGs first 6 Sustainable Development Goals (No Poverty; Zero Hunger; Good Health; Quality Education; Gender Equality; Clean Water and Sanitation), and is designed to ensure that each child’s rights and needs — both personal and educational — are met. Since 2004, Amitofo Care Center — or ACC — has worked to provide international donor-sponsored, formal K through 12 education opportunities with full care facilities for vulnerable children, as well as to foster gender equality in children from underprivileged backgrounds. On campus, we teach the local African formal curriculum, coupled with English and Chinese language skills — so that children are well prepared for global employment opportunities, and better able to change their destinies while improving the fate of their nations. We empower children through Buddhist principles and Confucianism, and foster wellbeing through martial arts physical education and mindfulness practices. Amitofo Care Center does more than just provide immediate help to those at risk. We focus on a long-term strategy ensuring vulnerable children have the tools and develop the skills to provide for themselves and their family well into the future. We set up fully sponsored vulnerable children boarding school ecosystem with holistic education that has a tangible impact in the way they move forward into their future. Due to climate change, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the blueprints that can address global challenges facing international community to achieve a more sustainable future for all.
