Mission Statement
Our mission is to facilitate meaningful human connection to strengthen social health, cultivate compassion, and equip people with the power to give and receive authentic support. We do this to improve the effectiveness of mental health treatment systems everywhere, and reduce deaths of despair. Connection is medicine.
About This Cause
Since the organization's inception in 2016 we have provided services to over 3000 individuals. Free-of-charge individual and community services provided include but are not limited to: trauma-informed psychosocial seminar series, professionally facilitated group support meetings (online and in-person), an innovative emotional support phone system, and subsidized access to holistic wellness services for at-risk, marginalized populations. Our programming fosters connection through mutually supportive community engagement to encourage clients to build and maintain healthy relationships that increase social capital and reduce social isolation. Working with governmental agencies, managed care organizations, aligned nonprofits, and other community stakeholders allows our programming to supplement existing mental health infrastructures and empowers communities at large to give and receive the mutually beneficial experiences of healthy social interaction. By bridging the divide between population segments and resourcing them with evidence-based tools and organizational support, a more resilient community with perceived and received social support systems can elevate those in need, without being reliant upon any one individual within the organization or community. Our programming was created and guided by medical doctors (including Dr. Gabor Maté) and practicing clinicians, neuroethicists, social scientists, harm reduction/treatment professionals, and experienced technologists to create a novel yet cohesive ecosystem for supported socialization, social cognition shifts, recovery efforts, trauma integration, and holistic healing modalities.
