About This Cause
Legal Initiatives for Vietnam (LIV) believes that we can help change the legal culture and framework in Vietnam effectively. Our objectives include the followings: • To promote and advocate for constitutional and legal reforms that shall guarantee human rights, democracy, and the rule of law to all Vietnamese citizens; • To promote and advocate for educational changes that shall guarantee law students and others will have access to uncensored legal knowledge; • To cultivate a new generation of human rights lawyers and legal journalists; • To generate international recognition for human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Vietnam. Currently, LIV is running two projects simultaneously: 1. Luat Khoa Law Magazine, which is an online legal magazine (www.luatkhoa.org) which was established in August 2014 by a group of four activist lawyers and journalists. It is the leading Vietnamese legal studies magazine online, aiming to promote and implement the concepts of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in the country. We are aiming to publish 80-90 articles per month by the end of the year 2017. 2. Luat Khoa Books was established in early 2014. In this project, LIV translates and publishes books that are related to our thematic issues. We will distribute those books through both mainstream and independent publishing houses in Vietnam, as well as online platforms such as Amazon, Smashwords.com, as well as via our website.
