About This Cause
3 Sisters Non-Profit was founded in February 2017 in memory of Barbara's stepdaughter, Nici. Nici passed away tragically in December of 2015, and Barbara knew that she needed to do something in Nici's memory. Barbara and her 2 sisters started 3 Sister Non-Profit, Inc (dba 3 Sisters Non-Profit), a tri-state organization, with the main goal of providing safety and comfort items to individuals in need. Items include hand-made car seat ponchos, wheelchair ponchos, cancer wraps and beanies, and blankets. Our goal is to donate to organizations and individuals who are of low socio-economic status or who are going through a temporary catastrophic event (i.e. medical treatment). We have a "no profit/no loss" approach, in that all donations and profits from sales are used to uphold the organization's mission, which includes the manufacturing of the products and outreach. We have donated to every state in the US and 5 countries. We want to set up training sites for the under-served (i.e. individuals with developmental disabilities, women in shelters, and residents in nursing homes) to teach them job skills and the value of giving back to the community. We made and donated over 1500 masks for organizations and individuals during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020. Donation recipients included hospital staff at 2 hospitals when the pandemic was at its worst and masks were not available. Most recently, we have connected with South Florida Baptist Hospital and deliver cancer wraps for individuals going through treatment. To date, we have donated over $63,000 worth of items.
