Mission Statement
The mission of Safe Passage is to provide safety, education, and empowerment to victims of violence and to the community. The agency was established in 1977 and is one of the largest victim services agencies in the state of Idaho. Each year, we provide confidential direct services to over 1,400 survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child victimization throughout North Idaho.
About This Cause
Safe Passage supports survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child victimization. Our programs can be broadly categorized as follows: • Safety for individuals: Services under this umbrella include our 24-hour crisis line, our safe shelter, court-based advocacy, and 24-hour hospital response services. • Resilience for Families: Services include our Children’s Advocacy Center, where children who have alleged abuse receive victim-centered forensic interviews and parents are supported with advocacy, and free counseling services for primary and secondary victims. We also offer housing advocacy and short-term rental assistance to help families impacted by violence escape abuse. • Education for youth and the community: We partner with middle and high schools throughout North Idaho to provide healthy relationship curriculum, safe technology practices, and information about teen dating violence through classroom presentations. We have on-site advocates at two high schools to help students be positive bystanders and interrupt violence when they see it. Our school-based advocates also provide safety planning to teens impacted by violence. We also educate community groups and businesses by facilitating domestic and sexual violence awareness presentations as well as workplace education programs free of charge.
