Mission Statement

Family Advocates works to strengthen families and keep kids safe by empowering everyday people to protect and enrich the lives of youth.

About This Cause

Family Advocates was incorporated in 1978. Over the past 40+ years, the organization has always maintained the mission of keeping children safe. Today, Family Advocates houses a prevention program and an advocacy program. The prevention program is the Family Strengthening Education Program. Built on the STRONG framework and the Five Protective factors, this program reaches all populations and demographics, and teaches them skills needed to strengthen bonds within families. This program sends graduates into the community armed with the strategies needed to build a healthier family unit, reducing stress, and advancing hope. The advocacy program is our Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) that operates in the 4th Judicial District of Idaho. This judicial district covers the counties of Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley in Idaho. Appointed by a judge, trained volunteers advocate in the best interest of a child that has experienced abuse or neglect. Volunteer Pro Bono Attorneys provide the legal expertise to assist the CASA Volunteer as they maneuver through the court process. Ultimately, the program's goal is to ensure that the child is provided with a safe home with the opportunity to thrive.
