About This Cause
Idaho Veterans Assistance League (IVAL) supports the Boise Veterans Home residents with individual needs like clothing and hygiene items or funding the Activity Department. The Activity Department meets the needs of residents by providing engagement based on what the resident's needs are. If a resident has advanced dementia, that could be by providing a comforting mechanical "pet" or for more cognitive and social residents – outings! The excellent staff and the wonderful support of the community have been pivotal in providing for our Veterans. As a result, we have received a five-star rating for 2019-2023 from US News and World report (https://health.usnews.com/best-nursing-homes/area/id/idaho-state-veterans-home-boise-135131). Thank you for helping us care for America's Heroes! We offer 122-bed skilled nursing care unit including a 17-bed special care unit for veterans with Alzheimer's disease or related conditions. Each room is individualized to provide residents with maximum privacy, and all have windows and individually controlled heating and air conditioning. The facility features a physical therapy center, a spacious dining room, pleasant common areas, a large covered patio, and courtyards. Services available to residents include extensive activity programs, onsite veteran and social services, library services, and transportation to medical appointments.
