Mission Statement
The mission of the Disaster Services Corporation is to model the charism of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul by providing quality programs and services to families and communities impacted by natural and manmade disasters across this great nation.
About This Cause
Disaster Services Corporation (DSC) facilitates change by integrating equity into all aspects of emergency management. Our focus is on humanity and our vision supports the empowerment of marginalized communities within all phases of the disaster management cycle. We support development and implementation of innovative community-based programs and adaptation projects to enhance resilience in diverse, vulnerable, and underserved communities. Our most popular philanthropic program is the House in a Box™ program where provide new home goods (an entire starter kit) to disaster survivors at no cost to the survivor. The estimated cost of a House in a Box™ for a family of four can range from $3,100 to $4,500 depending on their individual needs. Our partnership with Amazon Business has allowed us to create a fast and equitable response to individuals that are recipients of the House in a Box™. Survivors are carefully identified through a thorough disaster case management process where we ensure there are no duplication of benefits.
