About This Cause
Plastic Tides is a registered 501c3 nonprofit that believes in upstream solutions to plastic pollution and climate change. In 2014, Plastic Tides undertook its first SUP research and education expedition circumnavigating the island of Bermuda. The community and momentum built through this first expedition drove Plastic Tides to become an established nonprofit. Following the success of the 2014 Erie Canal expedition to raise awareness of microbeads, our co-founders formulated our core values: adventure, education, & youth empowerment. Since our inception, Plastic Tides has evolved, but these 3 values have guided our mission. Here's a snapshot of our programs and initiatives: -GYM (Global Youth Mentor) Program Launch ; Giving Youth Leaders the tools to create rapid, lasting change in their local communities and schools -Airbnb Paddle with Purpose ; Providing experience hosts directives to help spread the message and support their local initiatives -Airbnb Adventures ; Paddle with us in the Adirondacks, on the Erie Canal, through the natural springs of Florida, over the Kelp forests of Northern California, or into the tropical rainforest of the Philippines. Proceeds support GYM & our cleanup initiatives, and ongoing research on microplastic pollution. - Plastic Offset Credits ; Donate to offset your plastic footprint through collaborative initiatives in the Philippines, Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Thailand, and all across the United States -Cleanups ; The solution is prevention, but we can't forget to cleanup the problem as well.
