Mission Statement
The mission of Weekend Backpacks is to provide food to vulnerable, food-insecure Baltimore City youth to facilitate academic success and improve their lives both physically and emotionally.
About This Cause
We pack nutritionally sound bags of food which are then distributed to homeless, hungry vulnerable children in Baltimore City. Each bag contains enough food to feed 3-4 people at least 6 meals through the weekend. During this time of COVID-19, we have double our distribution from 600 bags/week for the 40 weeks of the academic year, to over 1100+ bags throughout this summer. This number will grow as the need continues to increase.
