About This Cause
Metro Ministries was started in June of 2010. With our primary focus on outreach to the urban community of Denver, we have grown every year. Our mission continues to be addressing the physical and spiritual hunger of people in our neighborhoods. Metro Ministries is a Denver based 501c-3 based charity serving the poor and working poor of the greater Denver metropolitan area. Our Mobile Food Bank was started in June 2012. Utilizing a one-ton van, we started with a few locations. In May 2016 we expanded our program. We were fortunate enough to receive a donation of a two-ton truck. With the help of other generous donors, we were able to build the truck that is being used today. It is estimated that each load of food in the truck has a value of $4,500. We typically serve 2 sites per load of food. Every Thursday and Friday, we distribute over 3,000 lbs. of food to students who are at risk of not eating on the weekends. This program distributes about $240,000 of food annually. Metro Ministries has maintained this program for the past 11 years. Recently Metro Ministries has obtained funding from the city of Denver to expand our program to over 20 locations Sidewalk Sunday School started in June 2012. It is our core belief that children are hungry spiritually as well as physically. We provide age appropriate children’s church to children in various low income housing projects around the Denver metro area. This program runs all summer long
