Mission Statement

The Marisa Tufaro Foundation, whose mission is to help children in need throughout the greater Middlesex County area, was founded in loving memory of 13 year old, Marisa Tufaro. Despite keeping hundreds of doctor’s appointments and being hospitalized for more than two years, Marisa lived a vibrant life that inspired. The foundation is a fitting way to honor Marisa and keep alive her spirit.

About This Cause

Since its inception just three years ago, The Marisa Tufaro Foundation has already made a profound impact in New Jersey, assisting children associated with Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital, Children's Specialized Hospital, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Hands of Hope Food Pantry, Kiddie Keep Well Camp, the Lakeview School, Special Strides Therapeutic Riding Center, the Ronald McDonald House of Central Jersey, Make-A-Wish New Jersey and others. The foundation, which serves as Marisa’s legacy, continues to support new initiatives. The foundation is committed to being a source of comfort to hospitalized children and their families. Community service is an integral part of its mission. Several “Marisa’s Missions” involving area schools have already been conducted. The Marisa Tufaro Foundation announced scholarship opportunities are available for students who attend school in or are residents of Middlesex County. Born with a complex cardiac defect that required six open-heart surgeries, Marisa died at the age of 13 after postoperative complications from a heart transplant developed into a rare form of stage IV cancer, to which she succumbed following a valiant fight.
