Mission Statement
LGBTQ Freedom Fund secures the release of individuals in U.S. jail and immigration detention, connects those individuals to needed support services, and, in tandem, works to build a critical mass of individuals in opposition to the cultures and policies of excessive and unjust incarceration of LGBTQ people. Sexual minorities are three times more likely than other individuals to be incarcerated and according to the U.S. Department of Justice, 10 to 20 times more likely to be sexually assaulted in prison or jail.
About This Cause
LGBTQ Freedom Fund posts bail to secure the safety and liberty of people in jail and immigration detention. In tandem it works to build a critical mass against the mass detention of LGBTQ individuals. LGBTQ people are three times more likely to be jailed than other non-LGBTQ individuals.
