Mission Statement
Crescent Moon Center's mission is to build a community of support around people in recovery from, or at risk for, alcohol and drug dependency, and those facing life challenges due to stress, trauma, and disability by: (1) offering experiential equine-assisted learning and creative arts programs. (2) improving access to recovery resources and programs for diverse, underserved and under-resourced communities. (3) advocating for change in the public’s perception of mental health challenges and substance use disorders. (4) developing coalitions and initiatives for recovery support locally, regionally, and nationally.
About This Cause
Crescent Moon Center, is a women led 501c3 nonprofit offering an empowering path toward healing, resilience, and growth through proven experiential art and equine-assisted learning workshops, ongoing community engagement and support. Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) and Expressive Arts are now recognized as science-based tools for healing. Research in neuroscience, psychology, and behavioral therapy supports their potential to reduce stress, promote positive changes in brain function, enhance communication skills, and improve overall mental health. Studies continue to show the effectiveness of these methods, making them increasingly integral in holistic wellness programs. Through innovative and hands-on approaches, Crescent Moon is helping participants find balance and emotional well-being by combining the powerful healing tools of horses and art. Our program is for adults (18+) who are in recovery from, or at risk for, alcohol and drug dependency, and those facing life challenges due to stress, trauma, and disability. Led by experienced facilitators, Crescent Moon Center can bring workshops to your organization or community including Art4Healing, abstract painting, collaborative mural-making, and creative writing. We have locations around the Bay Area for equine-assisted learning: - Rush Ranch, an historic 2070-acre nature preserve in Suisun City, CA - Tabula Rasa Ranch in Sebastopol, CA - City Stables in Oakland, CA We have half and full day or multi-day workshops. Our signature program “Healing Reflections” is a 6-day program. If you would like to learn more about Crescent Moon, please visit our website: https://www.crescentmooncenter.org
