Mission Statement
Lakou is a non-profit organization that cultivates a dynamic culture of opportunity for people in Haiti to make educational and economic progress in their lives. We fulfill our mission through classroom training, job creation and community engagement.
About This Cause
Haiti is a country rich with culture, capable individuals, and communities. However, because of Haiti’s complex history, the vast majority of Haitians do not have the opportunities or resources to live out their dreams, let alone provide for their basic needs. Haiti, though flooded with NGOs, has a persistent unemployment rate of 66%. Responding to this reality, Lakou NFP was founded in 2017 and grounded in the ideology that, if equipped with quality education and opportunities, Haitians will change Haiti. There is dignity and optimism created through quality education and real jobs. Our program participants in commercial construction receive unparalleled skill development and a solid income base that allows them to put food on the table and send their children to school.
