About This Cause

We are a large fraternity of a great institution and look to pool our resources together to create new foot prints in the form of new building blocks and academic and research facilities in their alma-mater. Above all our endeavor for constant engagement with alma-mater in providing the vital thought power and learned council for future planning and development is of utmost importance. We look to sharing of life long experience of techno-preneurship and enterprise management with the current generation of our budding engineering students and future fellow alumni. We can help the student community to emulate some of the best practices with which the illustrious alumni of our great institution have earned high eminence both nationally as well as globally. Delhi College of Engineering, formerly Delhi Polytechnic was started in 1941. The first batch passed out during 1943-44. Our institution has been mother of all technical institutions in Delhi, be it SPA Delhi, IIT Delhi, NSIT, IGTU for Women and more. The Alumni Association, Delhi Polytechnic was initiated in early 1960s. To the best of our knowledge, the Association was led by Shri V.K. Jain and Prof. O.P. Grover and later on by Prof. J.L. Pahwa. At that time, the Association was a close knit affair with limited members. In 1987, the charter to manage the Alumni Association was given to Shri Pramod Adlakha for the further growth of the fraternity. Shri Pramod Adalkha put in huge efforts to obtain, the names and batches of all alumni who passed out from the College from 1944 onwards. The names collected were printed in the 1st Alumni Directory in the year 1987. New alumni as graduating batches were added in the 2nd Alumni Directory in the year 1996. The Association in its current form was Registered on 29.5.1998 under the Societies Act with the Registrar of Societies at the old campus atKashmere Gate address (vide Regn. No.S-33032). On the date of Registration, the Governing Council comprised of: President: Sh. R.K. Bhandari Vice President: Sh. Karnal Singh General Secretary: Sh. Pramod Adlakha Joint Secretary: Sh. N.K. The 3rd Alumni Directory was published in the year 2002 (released in Feb 2004, with data for first time with Lifetime Members, which were 1677 nos. enrolled till 15.05.2003). Then the association also published 4 News Letters (Poly Engg News). On 22nd January 2005,Shri Adlakha stepped down from the post of General Secretary for personal reasons. Sh. Karnal Singh became the President and Sh. N.K. Sharma General Secretary for the Association. Sh. Karnal Singh’s team not only did good work, but also took the Association to new heights.
