FREED & KWON HUMANITARIAN MEDICAL FUND INC

NEW YORK, New York, 10128-0000 United States

Mission Statement

The Freed and Kwon Medical Humanitarian Fund evolved from Dr. Freed and Kwon's efforts during the last 15 years to provide surgical services, educate medical students and residents, and improve the public health of those in need in the developing countries to which they lead missions to multiple countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. They are currently developing sites in Bolivia and Ghana as possible longterm models for direct patient care and education of medical students and physicians in these countries. They also have a keen interest in public health issues like clean water. Between Dr. Freed's expertise in colorectal surgery and Dr. Kwon's Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, they are able to correct most complex female pelvic and abdominal issues that are encountered in these developing countries. The Fund is helping communities develop programs to ensure clean drinking water for people in their communities who are presently without resources of their own.

About This Cause

The charity funds missions to underdeveloped countries. It supports education during the missions and during each academic year to increase the number of local physicians in surgery and anesthesiology for countries without adequate numbers of these physicians. It establishes fellowship programs for advanced training primarily in female health areas in countries without these programs. This includes Ghana and Bangladesh.
