About This Cause
Heartwood Haven is is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit located in Gig Harbor, WA. We are an animal sanctuary dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of cruelty, criminal neglect cases as well as abandoned animals animals. Once an animal is rescued we work to rehabilitate them and then find them a loving safe forever home. If for some reason an animal is not adoptable they will remain with us forever at the sanctuary. Many of our permanent residents are disabled animals that would not otherwise not have been given a chance. In addition to our hands on work with animals we also provide a low income pet food bank in our local community. The pet food bank helps to keep pets with their owners and we also provide spay and neuter resources to help with overpopulation. Our other community programs include: Trap/Neuter/Release of feral and community cats, adoption program, education and advocacy and a volunteer program. In 2020, we saw cruelty cases double compared to previous years and stray/abandoned animals also increase. In 2020 we rescued over 400 animals from cruelty, neglect and abandonment. We adopted out 320 animals into loving forever homes.
