Seattle Tennis and Education Foundation inspires under-resourced kids to be active in mind and body so they gain the confidence and skills to achieve their dreams.
About This Cause
"Seeking to make a positive and lasting impact in the communities we serve." STEF has created a unique after-school program that takes full advantage of our role-model mentorship program along with impactful on-court tennis play. Together, these important components -- STEF Coach Core and STEF Role-Model Mentors -- empower STEF students to become healthier and more confident. In addition, we seek to help the entire family and communities we serve, including providing access to an end-of-program celebration of the students' achievements for families and stakeholders and aspirations for the future. Our role-model mentors are community leaders and high school students dedicated to one thing: inspiring kids to achieve their full potential. The primary school and middle school years are a crucial time during which children acquire coordination, complex technical and social skills and the confidence to succeed. Studies show that youth who engage in sports and are supported by mentors gain many benefits, including alleviation of depression, better attendance in school and higher matriculation rates and grades, providing a solid foundation for their future well-being. STEF’s programming addresses these challenges and provides important solutions with unique after-school programs.
