Mission Statement
We are on a mission to develop, replicate, and scale a development model for the under-served and marginalized rural communities through a unique approach of Wholistic Wellbeing. We enable the opportunity for people to take control of their own destiny through co-owned and co-created thematic interventions. Taking village as the microcosm of people’s lives, culture, economics, and wellbeing, we are creating a thriving ecosystem for rural growth and wellbeing. Our three inter-related areas of impact action are critical for shaping a better future and include Environment and Sustainability, Youth Development, and Women’s Empowerment.
About This Cause
At Roundglass Foundation, our mission is to empower wholistic wellbeing at the grassroots, in villages across Punjab. Through our high-impact programs focusing on environment and sustainability, youth development, and women empowerment, we strive to create global models for social change. Since our inception in 2018, we have expanded our presence to over 2000 villages, positively impacting more than 2.2 million lives. Our ambitious goal is to extend our reach to all 12,700 villages in Punjab by 2035. Environment & Sustainability: The Billion Tree Project: Our audacious goal is to plant 1 Billion Trees in Punjab by 2035. As of Aug 2024, we have planted over 2.6 million native trees across 1300+ villages, with a remarkable survival rate of over 90%. This effort has also generated employment opportunities for almost 13K people in Punjab. Through this program we have enabled the revival and saving of various native varieties and species of trees and other flora and fauna. Waste Management: We are committed to achieving a LITTER FREE Punjab through rural waste management initiatives. Through collaborative efforts with the community and local administration, we have established solid waste management systems in 240 villages, benefiting more than 46,000 participating households. Our comprehensive program emphasizes a decentralized model through the segregation of wet and dry waste at the source, followed by the conversion of wet waste into compost at the village level. As of Aug 2024, we have enhanced the capacity of waste management at the villages by setting up composting facilities that can manage almost 23,000 tons of waste annually, converting it into nearly 5,800 tons of organic compost. For further insights into our waste management initiatives, we invite you to watch the following films: RGF Waste Management Sher Kaur RGF Arti - Cleaning Patiala; RGF Women Building a Cleaner Punjab. Regenerative Agriculture: As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, we employ a multifaceted approach that includes setting up model farms, promoting extension services and programs, and implementing methods of income enhancement. These methods encompass cost optimization, multi-cropping, and other sustainable agricultural practices aimed at rejuvenating soil health, improving water table levels, and enhancing farmers' incomes. Youth Development: Sports for Development: We've established 300 Sports Centers in Punjab villages, encouraging children to participate in sports, with a special emphasis on girls' involvement. Our program initially focused on football/soccer and is expanding to include volleyball and kabaddi soon. A significant achievement of our program is the participation of girls, with 25% of the overall 9500 children enrolled being girls. One-Girl-One Football (1G1F): With a specific emphasis on girls' participation, we launched the One-Girl-One Football program, enrolling 2000 girls to date. Over the past two years, we have successfully scaled this initiative, ensuring broader inclusion and participation. Sports for Development Curriculum: In line with our commitment to wholistic development, we're integrating elements of Sports for Development into our program. This includes a curriculum focused on gender equality, nutrition, and sanitation, aimed at fostering not only athletic skills but also overall wellbeing and empowerment among participants. Learn Labs: Engaging children aged 6-14 in joyful learning experiences through digitally equipped Learn Labs, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills. These labs are designed in an experiential learning format based on the pedagogical design of self-operated learning environments (SOLE). Presently, we operate 300+ Digitally equipped Learn Labs, impacting over 6,500+ children. Moreover, we are proud to have engaged 300+ local youth women changemaker in facilitating these learning experiences, ensuring a diverse and inclusive educational environment. Women Empowerment: Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness: We've reached 30,000+ adolescent girls with programs focused on menstrual health. Women's Livelihood: Supporting 15 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to promote sustainable livelihood and economic independence among women. Microenterprise Support: Our aim is to provide comprehensive support, including financial, operational, and marketing assistance, to microenterprises established by women's groups. This initiative is geared towards fostering economic independence and sustainability among women. Capacity Building Programs: We are launching an extensive capacity-building program designed to empower women by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to become financially and socially independent. Through this initiative, we aim to instill confidence and agency among women, enabling them to navigate various aspects of their lives with autonomy and resilience. Health & Wellbeing: Yoga: Operating 100+ Yoga centers, empowering women with physical and mental wellness. Our programs are meticulously designed to collaborate closely with the community, women, and youth, with strong alignment with local administration and government initiatives. We maintain robust partnerships with various ministries in Punjab, including Environment, Panchayati Raj, Water & Sanitation, Agriculture, Education, and Sports.
