Mission Statement
Education Not Exploitation: Safety, Shelter, School, ans Support (ENE4S) Our mission is to educate and rehabilitate the Talibe (street children) in Africa with education, agriculture and commerce as the pillar of our vision. No child is a "lost cause". Love 1 Talibe will assist street children to move from dire situations to safety by providing shelter, nutrition and education. Through farming, agriculture and commerce we are constructing a safe place and community for children to live and aiding them in their journey to regain their childhood in order to have successful lives.
About This Cause
From a very young age, thousands of children in Senegal are sent to live and study at religious schools, a practice grounded in cultural tradition. Over the past decade, the unregulated schools and predatory teachers have exploited the children in their care sending them to begging on the streets. Interpol recently saved 57 children from child trafficking. In early 2018 two unsupervised 7 years old died with 6 more left in critical condition when a fire leveled the unfinished building where they were sleeping in. Love 1Talibe seeks to fulfill our vision that no kids belong on the streets and that creating a safe environment with access to education and resources is key to rescue and rehabilitation of the children through (ENE4S). We also 1- Increase access to clean water and electricity: with successful installation of solar-powered well to include potable water system and solar based electricity. 2- Develop a garden at the boarding school to grow nutritious organic food for children. Children participate in planting and cultivating organic crops as mean of empowerment.
