Mission Statement
RISE TOGETHER exists to ignite a movement of hope, resilience, and connection by empowering young people to use their voices for change. Our mission is to prevent youth substance use and promote mental wellness through storytelling, peer engagement, and healing-centered education. We believe that when young people are seen, heard, and supported, they become powerful leaders in transforming their schools, communities, and the world around them. Through school-based programming, youth-led initiatives, and adult ally training, we are building a generation rooted in empathy, healing, and purpose. Our work is driven by lived experience, informed by research, and centered on equity—reaching youth where they are and equipping them with tools to rise above adversity, break cycles of trauma, and lead with authenticity. RISE TOGETHER stands for prevention that is proactive, leadership that is inclusive, and healing that is community-centered. We are here to remind every young person: Your story matters. You are not alone. And you are enough—already.
About This Cause
RISE TOGETHER is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization based in Wisconsin, dedicated to improving youth mental health and preventing substance use through the power of storytelling, education, and connection. Founded in 2013, RISE TOGETHER was one of the first organizations in the nation to build a youth-led movement focused on peer-to-peer prevention, youth voice, and early intervention. At the heart of our work is the belief that stories can save lives. We create safe, healing-centered spaces where young people are empowered to share their lived experiences, break down stigma, and become leaders in their schools and communities. Our programs support both youth and the adults who serve them through: • School Assemblies & Speaking Engagements: Interactive events that inspire thousands of students annually across the Midwest. • Youth Leadership Training: Empowering young people with tools to lead change and support one another. • Educator & Adult Ally Training: Equipping school staff, counselors, and parents with trauma-informed practices and tools to foster connection. • Community Events: Hosting large-scale public events like RISE 12, blending storytelling, music, and wellness to raise awareness and funds. • Resource Development: Creating prevention curriculum, mental health toolkits, and self-guided journals for schools and communities. Over the past decade, RISE TOGETHER has impacted over 500,000 students, trained thousands of educators, and collaborated with hundreds of schools, community organizations, and government partners. We serve youth ages 12–18, especially those in underserved, rural, or high-risk communities. Our work centers around inclusion, lived experience, and leadership—prioritizing the voices of youth most affected by mental health challenges, trauma, or substance use. RISE TOGETHER has been recognized by national platforms such as the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and featured in publications like Forbes. We are committed to building a future where every young person feels seen, heard, and supported—and where prevention is proactive, not reactive.
