Mission Statement

As survivors of violence from war, abuse, and inequality, our values and mission aim to architect creative pathways for the sufferers to be the healers, for the silenced to be the noise makers, and for the dismissed and underrepresented to be the culture transformers.

About This Cause

In a world of rising inequality, uncertainty, and polarization, we see communication skills-building and creative expression as transformative pathways for reclaiming greater health, agency, and connectedness. #MeWeIntl equips individuals, organizations, and communities with communications/storytelling tools designed to advance psychological well-being, leadership skills, and social cohesion. #MeWeIntl is a global network of scientists, artists, program developers, community facilitators, who for over 10 years, across 15 countries, innovate communications interventions and storytelling methodologies--informed by psychology, neuroscience, and the arts. #MeWeIntl’s tools and trainings uniquely sync communication skills-building and storytelling approach with neuroeducation, self-care, psychosocial support, and leadership development applications. The 3 levels of communication in the #MeWeIntl methodology run parallel with the 3 focus areas of positive change targeted by our communities of practice. Our trainings, subgrants, workshops, and curricula have activated hundreds of new community leaders who have architected innovative community spaces where localized versions of the #MeWeIntl methodology have reached more than 10,000 at-risk and vulnerable youth, caregivers, and community leaders across more than 12 countries, supporting more than 14 community building organizations, youth centers, and women’s shelters globally. Participants in #MeWeIntl are reporting advanced psychological well-being, and improved communication and leadership skills. Our goals for the next 5 -7 years include the following: --Globally expand communities of practice (trainees, and community partners), particularly in the North America, Africa, MIddle East, and Latin America, with increasing geographic focus in the United States. --Build upon the mental health/ psychosocial components of the program Activate more leaders and practitioners within targeted at-risk communities Innovate and deploy tools and opportunities for communities of practice to tip cultures locally by promoting healing, agency, and social change through creative expression practices. --Transition #MeWeIntl programs towards community ownership supported by open-sourced methodology and tools, making #MeWeIntl accessible for all people everywhere --Diversify partnerships so that the #MeWeIntl methodology and tools for communication and creative expression are adopted as mainline approaches within the social sectors of health-care, education, humanitarian response, and the arts/museums. --Expand programming tools to be more accessible and actionable to health-care professionals, educators/schools, children, youth, caregivers, and those with special needs --Decentralize the power of narrative and culture creation by unleashing #MeWeIntl community productions (community-authored book projects, community-designed gatherings/exhibitions, community-produced docuseries/podcast projects). Mitigate inequality in narratives and eradicate the lack of representation of voices by unleashing the creative capital of the #MeWeIntl community network to culture-tipping opportunities related to community-led publishing, exhibitions, and creative media/content production partnerships
