Mission Statement
Maniapure Foundation USA aims to work alongside Fundación Proyecto Maniapure to improve the quality of life of indigenous and creole communities that live in remote areas of Southern Venezuela, by providing Health through Tele-medicine services and Education through Tele-education services.
About This Cause
Maniapure Foundation USA is the international chapter of the Venezuelan Fundación Proyecto Maniapure which has been providing health and educational services to rural communities of the Southern region of Venezuela (Maniapure region and Gran Sabana) for almost 40 years. Maniapure has been the epicenter of the Latin-American telemedicine revolution that has served more than 30,000 people in remote and very vulnerable communities across southern Venezuela. Tomas Sanabria B. MD, the founder of Maniapure Foundation along with his aunt Beatriz Borjas de Cuenod, is a visionary, social entrepreneur who has worked restlessly since he graduated from his studies in Cardiology in Harvard, Massachusetts. He was awarded with the Social Entrepreneur of the year 2011 title by the Shwab Foundation and he continues to put all his energy into helping Venezuelans get a better quality of health and education. Maniapure has the credibility of renowned worldwide organizations such as Unicef, WHO, ACH that have chosen it to deliver education and health programs to the most remote and underserved communities. Venezuela is undergoing a severe crisis given the political situation and social unrest that has affected every industry and every aspect of our day-to-day lives. Maniapure has had to adapt and reinvent the way it continues to provide health and education to those who, now more than ever, need it. Your help and the help of those who have the possibility to have an impact on the education and health of others is critical for our program to continue especially during these days of uncertainty.
