Mission Statement
Our mission is to raise awareness, decrease the stigma, and increase the utilization of mental health services in Black and other marginalized communities. To make this happen, we train mental health clinicians in social justice advocacy and match culturally competent counselors with clients from historically marginalized groups.
About This Cause
New Visions Wellness Center, Inc. provides social justice advocacy training for our counselors, which helps to reduce clinician bias and cultural incompetence. We also provide marginalized communities with outreach and education to address cultural beliefs and reduce the stigma related to seeking counseling. Our services are focused on young, Black adults and other marginalized groups and underserved communities. We match individuals with a therapist from our diverse community of clinicians. Our goal is to increase provider relatability and the level of trust in mental health providers. We also want to reduce and eliminate problems related to provider availability, scheduling, and transportation issues. To do this, we will provide convenient and flexible online services that can be accessed conveniently and privately. Services are conducted via telephone and audio and video conferencing from anywhere using a smartphone or computer. The anonymity and privacy of our online services and the outreach and education we provide to marginalized communities helps to de-stigmatize mental health services. Also, our payment options help resolve problems related to cost and lack of health insurance coverage.
