Mission Statement
Gina Rose Montalto, was a victim of the mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, on February 14, 2018. The Foundation was created to honor the way Gina lived. She always took great pride in her education. High grades and school involvement were a huge part of Gina's life. She always looked to help others whether they were a friend, part of her family, or someone in need. The Gina Rose Montalto Memorial Foundation, Inc. ("Foundation") will provide financial support, in Gina's honor, in the form of Scholarships, Awards and Grants (collectively, the "Programs"). The Programs are important contributions to the community, they are valuable to the recipient and they will advance the mission of the Foundation. The Programs will keep Gina's light shining by helping others reach their potential. "Award" means funds or other tangible property provided to an individual to encourage and recognize outstanding achievements toward the progress and betterment of human endeavor, including achievements such as receiving first place in a science fair. "Educational Organization" means a secondary or post-secondary educational organization that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and normally has a regularly enrolled body of pupils or students in attendance at the place where its educational activities are regularly carried on. "Grant" means funds provided to an Educational Organization, or nonprofit corporation described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended ("Code"), to be used in furtherance of their educational or charitable purposes, including those that may be influencing legislation. "Scholarship" means funds provided to, or for the benefit of, an individual as a scholarship or fellowship grant to be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, equipment and other expenses required for the enrollment or attendance as a student at an Educational Organization. Scholarships may be paid directly to the Educational Organizations with instructions that they must use the funds solely for the scholarship. It is the mission, duty and purpose of the Gina Rose Montalto Foundation, Inc. to operate exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code, that also constitute public charitable purposes under the Florida Not for Profit Corporations Act, Chapter 617, F.S ..
