Mission Statement
Memphis Family Connection Center (MFCC) supports hope and healing for families and children. MFCC’s programs aim at increasing access to holistic care for families and communities impacted by Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma. Families and communities are primarily served through clinical services (counseling, occupational/speech therapy, expressive art therapy and parent mentoring), community training and implementation, as well as trauma-informed resources that inform better care practices, prioritizing root causes and community support. At every level, MFCC journeys alongside families and communities toward greater healing and hope.
About This Cause
MFCC supports hope and healing for families and communities through the following programs: 1 - MFCC’s Clinic equips individuals, parents, and caregivers with the skills and practices they need to experience hope, healing, and lasting change. MFCC nurtures well-being and hope through healing-centered, integrated care and support. Clinical services offered at MFCC are grounded in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®). TBRI®, listed on the California Clearinghouse for Evidence-Based Practices, is a trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of children who have experienced trauma, adversity, or toxic stress. Clinical services are provided within the framework of TBRI® to encourage trauma-informed care. TBRI® equips caregivers with knowledge and skills that empower them to provide healing care for those who have experienced trauma. With a deep desire for all families to have access to quality trauma-informed care, MFCC accepts almost all commercial insurance, offers a sliding scale and scholarship fund to assist families and individuals during times of financial hardship. Over 60% of families served through the clinic qualify for the sliding scale. With a multidisciplinary integrated model of care for the entire family, MFCC helps families move from simple survival to deep connection, awareness, and joy. 2 - MFCC realizes that to help a whole community heal from trauma, the support of families and children must extend beyond clinical care. MFCC's second priority aims to educate community stakeholders in trauma-informed, strength-based policies and practices through their program Safe and Secure TN (SSTN). Safe and Secure TN inspires compassion and change through collaborative training and coaching. Safe and Secure TN is a collaborative program with the Tennessee Department of Children Services, Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD) at Texas Christian University, and the nonprofit Show Hope, with the shared goal of reducing the impact of adverse childhood experiences and trauma in Tennessee. A multi-systemic approach is utilized to build internal competency; the program will scaffold implementation of trauma-informed practices that will lead to lasting growth. Children will benefit directly and immediately from positive changes implemented in these systems. This is accomplished through training with local, regional, and state community-based organizations, child welfare agencies, and nonprofits to build capacity for implementing trauma-informed healing care within and across systems. 3 - MFCC’s third priority is making quality, trauma-informed resources available to families through their third program, Empowered To Connect (ETC) Institute. ETC Institute (ETCI) cultivates understanding and transformation through multi-layered resources and support. Working at the individual, family, and community level, the Institute develops evidence-based resources, curriculum and training that is shared with parents, caregivers, and community stakeholders to help build more nurturing environments for healing and well-being.
